Plan for redevelopment of Hotel Braams in Gieten ready, renovation should start before summer

The final design of the former Braams hotel in Gieten has been completed. After consultation with local residents and the municipality of Aa en Hunze, SD Projecten from Emmen will realize both apartments and ground-level owner-occupied homes. There will also be a Bed and Breakfast and day catering with a terrace on the Brink.

This concerns twenty owner-occupied apartments in the former hotel section, and thirteen B&B studios with space for meetings. There is room for six homes at the back of the hotel grounds. Four of these are intended for starters.

This means that the first redevelopment plan, which was presented at the beginning of this year, has been adjusted on a few points, according to Sander Dragtstra of SD Projecten. “Together with architects, we have been busy lately to further develop the plans presented at the time, even after we had heard from the neighborhood. And certain wishes came from the town hall. We took that into account. Now we are almost there that we are applying for the environmental permit. But first we want to submit the design to the immediate neighbors and other interested parties again.”
