A bicycle accident usually produces sympathy, but things are apparently different for Marco Borsato. He has to deal with a number of particularly nasty reactions from visitors to NU.nl. “Karma!”
Marco Borsato fell during a bike ride after running over two empty bottles on the bike path. The blow was severe: he suffered broken and bruised ribs and had to stay in hospital for five days. He is now recovering at home, but simple things such as laughing, coughing and breathing are still painful for the time being, he says.
Big fall
It’s tough, Marco says on his socials. “In fact, our annual motorcycle trip to Germany was supposed to go ahead this year. But fate decided otherwise. A bicycle accident… it seems to run in the family now,” he says, referring to his son who recently also had a crash while cycling.
He turns to his comrades: “Fortunately, I’m getting better every day, but I haven’t recovered enough yet to compete this year. So guys, have a drink with me, make nice kilometers and keep it a bit tidy… although I know that the latter has no chance. I’ll be there again next year.”

There is no pity from visitors NU.nl. “The charm offensive continues at full throttle. I am very curious whether Borsato will still be able to perform in front of full houses. I think many liters of beer will be thrown,” says a certain Henk.
And a certain Wilma: “Karma, I can’t say anything else. He doesn’t take any responsibility for the texts he sent her.”
No interview
Marco has been acquitted of abuse, but the dirty messages he sent an underage girl are still in black and white. “Completely fed up with always saying something about this nasty man who cannot apologize and thinks he can just get a podium again,” says someone else on NUjij.
This commenter continues: “First show decent ownership of being around girls who are too young. Not only the girl from the trial but also girls in The Voice. Just because he has been acquitted does not mean that he has done nothing wrong from a moral point of view. Shameless behavior by him and his family.”

Arie very much has the feeling that Marco is doing everything he can to arouse pity. “And here we go again: the fresh promotion of Mr. Borsato. His agency does everything possible to give him a human appearance again. Terrible. Never ever again this gentleman, please.”
One Willem thinks that goes too far: “Are you saying that he is exploiting his misfortune to gain more popularity? The suggestion is reprehensible. Based on nothing, except your own malicious bias. And then talking about others.”
