The first round of the Italian Championship will take place over the weekend from 24 to 26 April. Among those registered is the son of the singer who died eleven years ago: “I will try to go step by step”
For Pino Daniele, music was one of his endless loves. His son Francesco, on the other hand, prefers to make the engines sound. A special and intense passion that will lead the twenty-year-old to make his debut in the first round of the 2026 Italian GT Sprint Championship. The event is scheduled at the Imola Autodrome for the upcoming weekend. Francesco will be at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán ST Evo2 prepared by the DL Racing team. The son of the famous Neapolitan singer who passed away in 2015, will gain confidence during the free rehearsals, scheduled for Friday 24 April. Then the first race will follow, at 5.30pm on Saturday 25th. Then the grand finale, scheduled for Sunday 26th April at 3.30pm.

Born in Rome on 21 December 2005, Francesco Daniele attends the degree course in “Politics: Philosophy and Economics” at Luiss. His passion for sport took shape first with tennis and then with swimming. So here is the approach to the world of motors. Francesco started as a track and dirt motorcyclist, becoming friends with the late Luca Salvadori. Then the transition to four wheels took shape, concretized with some tests on a Huracán ST Evo2. Now it’s time for the real debut on the circuits.

Francesco is ready to immerse himself in a special weekend: “I had a great time with the whole team from the first moment, they welcomed me as if I had been racing with them for years and the first tests were very useful. At the wheel of the Lamborghini I found an excellent driving feeling. I am very excited. I always aim to give my best, but I remain with my feet on the ground. It is my first year of racing, I will try to go step by step. I dream of being able to undertake a career as a driver at the various levels of the Gran racing chain Tourism”. There is also a lot of confidence in the DL Racing team. This is confirmed by the words of team principal Diego Locanto: “We strongly wanted Francesco in the group of our talents. We are convinced that he can make an important sporting journey. He has quality and talent, he is a boy who also perfectly reflects our moral and sporting values. From the first tests he has shown that he has speed and aptitude in driving GT cars, with him it is therefore possible to set up a long-term program, but without any type of pressure”.
