Passers-by on the Haanstraat in Voorst saw a large batch of asbestos this morning on the side of the road. This large pile will be removed today, the municipality says. “As long as no one gets there, it’s harmless.”
The asbestos dumping was reported by several citizens this morning. The police have been notified of the find. The dump site has been cordoned off with ribbons. According to the municipality, the plates will be removed ‘as soon as possible by a recognized company’.
Local residents do not have to worry, according to a spokesperson for the municipality. “The asbestos poses no risk because it is not broken; there is no danger as long as the plates remain intact.”
If it comes to light who left the asbestos, that person is the sjaak. In addition to the fact that the perpetrator will have to go through the dust, the dumper will also have to cough up the clean-up costs. Dumping asbestos also has criminal consequences. The fine is determined by the public prosecutor.
The municipality is calling on witnesses to come forward.
