The Federation’s provision is official after the affair which saw the two Italian swimmers involved in a case of theft at Singapore airport
After the case that broke out due to what happened at Singapore airport, the measure taken by the Federation against Benedetta Pilato and Chiara Tarantino has become official. The two swimmers have been suspended for 90 days (starting today, October 9th) from social and federal activities following the acceptance of the request for a plea bargain in the federal investigation opened following the theft accusations made by local authorities last August 14th. They will miss the European Short Course Championships in Poland, scheduled from 2 to 7 December.

Thus, the investigation opened after the accusations and arrest at Singapore airport for theft of cosmetic products in the duty-free shop comes to an end. The Italians were inactive for three months: a punishment that took into account the collaborative attitude of the athletes, who admitted their responsibilities. The Federnuoto, having also received the authorization from the Attorney General of CONI, accepted the sanctioning proposal of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office relating to the plea bargaining request presented individually by the parties, as specified by the FIP in an official press release.
