In the round of 16 of the Darts World Cup, the German Ricardo Pietreczko has to compete against Nathan Aspinall. He gave out a tip before the duel.
The English world-class player Nathan Aspinall teased the German darts hope before the World Cup round of 16 against Ricardo Pietreczko. “Ricardo is a great player, but a strange guy. He does his own thing, always hangs out with his girlfriend at the tournaments. I’ve never really spoken a word to him,” Aspinall said of the 30-year-old Franconian.
After convincing victories over Gian van Veen (3:1) and Scott Williams (4:1), Pietreczko is only the second German to reach the round of 16 of the World Cup in London. Only Gabriel Clemens had previously achieved this in 2021 and 2023.
The 33-year-old Aspinall has already reached the World Cup semi-finals twice and triumphed at the World Matchplay, the second most important tournament of the year, in 2023. The Englishman goes into the duel as a slight favorite.
