Pieter Omtzigt absolutely does not want to waste any more words on Rick Nieman, with whom he is incredibly angry because he threw him under the bus. “I’m going to work with fresh courage,” he says.
We hear many stories about the outbursts of anger and explosions of NSC leader Pieter Omtzigt. Not only in politics, but also in the media. For example, he once went completely out of his way behind the scenes of the former talk show HLF8. And last December he had a short circuit in Rick Nieman’s eye and his rolling cameras.
‘How are you?’
Rick decided to simply broadcast the images and that made for uncomfortable television. The leader of NSC was also quite pissed off about it, because the presenter could have easily cut it out.
How does Pieter look back on it? He was taken yesterday for the talk show van Renze Klamer was interviewed on location by political reporter Jaïr Ferwerda, just prior to the New Year’s reception of King Willem-Alexander. “Best wishes is a bit late, isn’t it, but how are you?”
Completely equipped
Pieter is rested, he says. “Okay. Sure. Had a nice few weeks of rest.”
Jaïr: “Yes, because the last time I saw you was that interview with Rick Nieman. How do you look back on that?”
Pieter: “I am happy that we are starting a new year. I also said something about that on the internet and I’ll leave it at that. I’m going to work with fresh courage. There is really a lot to do for the Netherlands at the moment.”
Not entirely fair
Jaïr wants to have a nice sneer on camera, so he asks further. “Afterwards you felt that they didn’t broadcast that at all fair?”
Pieter: “I have said what I said about it and I hope that in the coming year we will also talk about what the Netherlands needs. I came here by train, fully rested and feeling good, but I still think I should have had a car with a driver when I look at it that way. They really look at me strangely for walking in here, yes.”
