Piet moves farm because of PFAS: ‘Cannot justify that it ends up in meat, cheese and milk’

Piet Smits has been a farmer all his life but no longer believes that a healthy product comes from his land. His pasture in Sliedrecht – close to the Dordrecht chemical giant Chemours – is ‘full of PFAS’. He even offered the government a cow that eats his grass for research. He himself has taken the rigorous decision to relocate his business activities. “It is unacceptable to continue farming here.”
