A woman got into a scuffle with a pickpocket at Hermannplatz underground station on Thursday afternoon and fell down an escalator with the man.

According to the police, a 52-year-old woman noticed on Thursday afternoon that two men were standing very close behind her as she rode the escalator at Hermannplatz underground station from the lower to the upper platform.

When she turned around, she saw that one of the men was holding her wallet. This is said to have led to a scuffle, during which she and the thief fell down the stairs.

According to the police, local police officers became aware of the situation when the woman and other witnesses screamed for help.

They arrested the 42-year-old thief and his alleged accomplices at the subway station. According to the police, the 46-year-old denied knowing the thief and having anything to do with the crime.
