The Hamburg trading and services group Otto Group is filling a key position. On Tuesday, the company announced the appointment of Philipp Andrée as the new Board of Directors for Brands and Retail.
He will therefore take over the post on April 1st and will then succeed Sergio Bucher. The Otto Group announced that Bucher is leaving the group board of directors, of which he has been a member since 2020, “due to age,” but will take a seat on the supervisory board.
Andrée was most recently COO of the Douglas Group
Andrée is “a very recognized industry expert with extensive international expertise in the areas of digitalization, marketing and strategic corporate development of successful e-commerce and omnichannel retailers,” according to a statement. He comes from the drugstore chain Douglas Group, where he has been a member of the board as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) since 2023. Before that, according to his new employer, he “worked in a managerial position at the Hamburg coffee roaster and retail company Tchibo, most recently as Managing Director for Digital and Marketing.”
At the Otto Group, in his future role as Board of Directors for Brands and Retail, he will be responsible “as chairman of the advisory board for the corporate groups Crate & Barrel, Manufactum, Frankonia, Freemans & Grattan as well as the sourcing activities of Otto International,” the group explained.
Benjamin Otto, the designated chairman of the Otto Group’s Board of Trustees and Shareholders, praised the new addition. “We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Philipp Andrée, an experienced industry expert who has e-commerce and retail at heart,” he explained in a statement. “His extensive experience in the areas of digitalization, profitability and scaling of business models – both nationally and internationally – will make a significant contribution to further advancing our strategy and successfully shaping the future of our company.”
