PhD student Excelsior hires Kenzo Goudmijn again from AZ

Kenzo Goudmijn will play again on a rental basis for Excelsior next season. The PhD student has already rented the winger from AZ for the past six months. With the Kralingers, the 20-year-old supplementer is now entering the Eredivisie.

After a crazy denouement in The Hague (4-4) Excelsior was promoted to the Eredivisie last month. Goudmijn started the season as a mercenary at Sparta Rotterdam, but in the winter break he made the switch to the team of trainer Marinus Dijkhuizen. The son of AZ assistant Kenneth Goudmijn played eighteen games in the shirt of Excelsior. He scored one goal and provided one assist.

“Together with Kenzo, we looked at what would best suit his development,” said Max Huiberts, director of football affairs at AZ, on the Alkmaarders website. “He has done an excellent job at Excelsior. After gaining a lot of experience in the Kitchen Champion Division in recent years, Kenzo now gets the opportunity to show his qualities at Eredivisie level every week.”

Goudmijn still has a contract with AZ until the summer of 2024.

AZ coach Pascal Jansen discussed the status of a number of players after the first training session.
