In Belgium, people can go to more than 2,500 pharmacists to take a rapid antigen test (RAT test). If you want to have such a test taken, it is best to use the self-evaluation tool of the FPS Public Health. A test code is then created, with which people can make an appointment with the pharmacist. But an appointment is also possible without a test code. Those who have symptoms will be reimbursed the amount of the RAT test.
As of today, pharmacists can also issue a certificate if the result is positive. This can then be used as an absence certificate for children from 6 years old. But not all states require a pharmacist’s certificate for the absence of a child with Covid-19 from school. In Flanders, for example, the normal rules apply in the event of absence due to illness: in addition to an absence certificate from a (general) doctor, a school may also accept the result of the positive corona test or a note from the parents. Parents should therefore check themselves which certificate or note is required in the event of illness.
Whether a pharmacist’s certificate is also valid for an absence from work is still being discussed with the social partners. An employer is of course free to accept such a pharmacist’s certificate, underlines the FPS Public Health.
