THEin the presence of pets is strong globally: 56% of families own at least one animal. However, hair, fingerprints and stains remain among the main daily frustrations. On the occasion of World Animal Day, which was celebrated on 4 October, Dyson has revealed the results of its first Global Wet Cleaning Study which involved over 23,000 people in 28 countries. Research shows that one in two pet owners use wet cleaning of floors, but He still struggles to deal with stains, footprints and hair left by his four-legged friends.

Living with animals inevitably brings new challenges: overturned bowls, muddy paws, loose hair and invisible allergens which spread throughout the house. 1 in 4 dog or cat owners say traditional grooming tools can’t handle pet-related dirt, while 1 in 3 find hair difficult to remove.

Italians and pets at home

Another study also conducted by Dyson after the pandemic on 32,282 interviewees in 33 countries – including Italy – revealed that less than half of Italian interviewees place a limit on the animal’s movements at home (45% for dogs, 38% for cats). For those who do, the areas in which the four-legged ones move the most are those common to all the inhabitants: living room, courtyard, kitchen.

Cats are also more easily accommodated on beds and sofas compared to dogs. Suffice it to say that 46% of Italian cats sleep on their owner’s bed, compared to only 29% of dogs – a percentage that drops to 16% or even 14% in Mexico and China respectively.

Coming to pet grooming, almost all owners interviewed globally also do it at home. But how often? In Italy, 40% of cats are brushed at least once a week, compared to 33% of dogs. The reason is mainly hygiene, with Italians more interested in cleaning the animal itself (47%) than the animal and the house at the same time (37%).

Lastly, Unfortunately, there are many owners who are unaware of what is hidden in the fur of their beloved 4-legged companions – for example, only 1 in 4 Italians is aware that it can carry pollen (25%), viruses (23%), food residues (26%) and mite faeces (27%). Greater awareness instead bacteria (46% know that animal hair can contain them), dust and sand/soil particles (40%) and mites (38%). Negative record for Belgium, Spain and Portugal, where it is good 6% of the owners interviewed believe that hair does not contain any of these elements.

Household cleaning when you have pets

Given these results, it is clear that domestic cleaning, where there is a four-legged animal, must be more accurate, sometimes more frequent, certainly more specific.

«The impact of pets in the home goes beyond what is visible to our eyes. Effectively removing pet hair is important, but there are problems invisible to the naked eye, such as animal dandruff soiled with saliva”, explains Monika Stuczen, Dyson researcher in microbiology. «These microscopic particles can carry the proteins that trigger the allergies. Light and tiny, they can remain suspended in the air for hours, or settle on objects”, concludes the researcher.

To meet these needs, Dyson has just presented the new Piston Animal Submarinethe anti-tangle cordless vacuum cleaner ideal for those who want a home that is always clean and free from hair, dust and allergens. Specifically designed for those who live with dogs, cats and other animals, combines cutting-edge technologies, suction power and ease of use.

At the heart of the Dyson V16 Piston Animal is the new one All Floor Cones Sense brush, equipped with two conical brushes that expel even the longest hairs as they are collected, preventing them from wrapping and tangling around the roller. It intelligently adapts to different types of flooring: in addition to adjusting the suction when it detects a change in the type of surface, it also automatically adjusts the rotation speed of the brush.

With 315 AW of constant and powerful suctiongenerated by the new 900W Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor, this vacuum cleaner effectively tackles the most stubborn dirt and hair scattered throughout the house. It is also equipped with new patented Dynamic Cyclone technologywhich activates five additional cyclones in Boost mode to further increase power when needed.

The new one Submarine™ 2.0 brush, then, it is designed to easily remove dirt left by pets, from wet footprints to everyday stains. The motorized microfibre roller captures both wet and dry debris from hard floors, while the 300ml tank covers up to 110m².

But that’s not all: Dyson V16 Piston Animal can be combined with a pet grooming kit, designed to integrate coat care into the daily cleaning routine, which includes an accessory to remove hair, dandruff and allergens directly from the coat, and a flexible extendable hose to comfortably reach every part of the animal.

Animals terrified of household cleaning devices? Help them like this

Great help for us, a source of anxiety for them. Our four-legged friends are not always comfortable with vacuum cleaners, robot cleaners, etc. It is therefore essential to also guide the interaction between the pet and household appliance so that fears and discomfort are not generated: «At first the animal may seem like an alien», states the Dr. Buosi, veterinary doctor, known online as the Dr. Four-legged, which suggests gradually accustoming the pet to the new arrival in the house and continues «We leave the device turned off around the house, then turn it on briefly while the animal is at a distance. Never force interaction or use it as a toy. It takes time and a lot of patience.”

This is especially true for robots. Those of the Saros series by Roborockfor example, allow us not only to control them remotely thanks to the “Find my PET” function, but also to let them hear our voice via video call. Be careful, however, not to abuse “pet calls”: as Dr. Buosi suggests, «it is fine to make a regular call if the animal reacts positively, but let’s avoid creating dependency or confusion in our four-legged friend.”

Roborock is very clear about the need to integrate technologies into the home pet-friendly. For this, he developed ‘sensitive’ devicescapable of decreasing the suction power and moving around so as not to disturb dogs and cats in the house. Not only that: these robots are also designed to automatically and intelligently increase the suction and washing power where it is needed most, such as near bowls and litter trays, ensuring targeted cleaning and stress-free for four-legged friends.

Among other interesting solutions for the well-being of animals and, above all, of owners, we find the Roborock QV 35A: essential as well as effective for deep cleaning thanks to a suction power of 8,000 Pa and the anti-tangle system that prevents the accumulation of hair and hair.

Through the Roborock app, it is also possible set up no-go areas, protecting sensitive areas such as pet bowls or play areas. For even more advanced hair management, the Qrevo Edge S5A It features an even double anti-tangle system. And for top-of-the-range cleaning, Roborock Q10 S5+ offers a VibraRise 2.0 wash system, as well as LiDAR PreciSense e obstacle avoidance Reactive Tech for particularly careful and complete management of the spaces to be cleaned.
