Peter Pannekoek thinks it is a shame that Zomergasten is being cut back, because the comedian would have liked to participate in it. In fact, he had already chosen his first fragment.
The endless interview program Zomergasten disappears from the air due to budget cuts. The VPRO talk show is very expensive, because the broadcasting rights of fragments are extremely expensive. A shame, says Peter Pannekoek. The comedian had hoped to be invited for years, but now sees that opportunity passing him by.
Peter is disappointed
Peter had already selected a fragment. “I have always thought: if I were ever invited to the Summer Guests program, I would show the goal that FC Barcelona scored against Real Madrid in the 2010/2011 season. The 2-0. Do you know that?”, he says in the A.D.
He continues: “It takes about eighty passes beforehand. It’s pure art. The stadium is already shouting ‘olé’ with every ball contact, even though it has only been played for fifteen minutes. Meanwhile, the ball is going around in a way that makes you think: this is just crazy. Pure beauty. Art.”
First fragment
Would that be Peter’s first fragment? “Well, maybe not my first. You don’t want to scare away people who think: what is this Eurovision Song Contest stuff? But I would have liked to show the VPRO viewer that football can also be art, yes.”
He concludes: “It’s a shame that Zomergasten is going to disappear. But later I’ll watch that goal again on YouTube.”
