Thomas van Groningen understands that there was annoyance in certain circles about Peter Pannekoek’s New Year’s Eve conference. The comedian took a swipe at Islam critics. “It’s not true.”
Peter Pannekoek’s New Year’s Eve conference received mixed reviews. While he usually scored mainly with quick jokes, he now tries to be a bit more committed and that is not to everyone’s taste. Bridget Maasland is normally a great fan of his shows, but this time she did not laugh once.
IJsselmeer birds
Bram Moszkowicz also found it disappointing. “I first looked at Ricky Gervais and then at Peter Pannekoek and that transition…,” he says at the desk of News of the Day.
Presenter Thomas van Groningen sneers: “That’s a bit like going from the Champions League to the IJsselmeervogels.”
Bram: “Yes, that is true what you say. There were also lame jokes about Marjolein ‘Fabel’.”
Islamization
Peter lashed out at critics of Islam, among others. The comedian joked: “Just imagine: if a party like Denk announced tomorrow that they would remove all women from the list because of Islamic beliefs. Well, the country would be too small! ‘Islamization!’ But with the SGP… ‘Well, yes, if you have a cunt, yes, then you have no political use.’”
Lame, says TV critic Victor Vlam. “It is the political message again. It is a BnnVara production, which is of course a left-oriented broadcaster. I understand that it does not become a right-wing story and it does not have to be. If it is funny, I don’t find it a problem at all.”
Canal belt
However, according to Victor, this is not funny. “I think this is a typical example of how many such comedians think from the canal belt. I think it is an unfair comparison.”
Thomas agrees. “I don’t think it’s true either, because I attended that SGP members’ meeting and there was a lot going on in the Dutch media.”
SGP leader Chris Stoffer was even lynched live by Eva Jinek. Well, verbally then.
Important difference
Victor is annoyed by it. “Certainly, there is definitely a lot to do. I also think there is a difference. The SGP wants to give women a different role at an institutional level, while many migrants you bring in are very unkind in their personal interactions with women. I think that is a really important difference.”
Bram: “That’s right.”
A bit bland
Peter also lashed out at Marjolein Faber. He called the former asylum minister a ‘schizophrenic lunatic’. According to Bram, that goes very far. “I think it’s a bit lame.”
“Moreover, I am a big fan of Marjolein Faber. I think she has tried to do a good job. It is very much about the woman. That is allowed, but I think it is lame.”
