Peter Bosz did not see a big victory coming: ‘The training was lousy’

Peter Bosz did not see PSV’s big victory in Almelo coming. That had everything to do with the bad training on Friday. Fortunately, everything turned out well for the trainer and his team and there was a resounding victory. “This is the ideal preparation for the match against Lens.”

Due to an early red card for Heracles player Justin Hoogma, PSV was able to easily run to a 6-0 win in Almelo. The trainer had not expected such an easy victory in advance. “Certainly not if you saw Friday’s training. That was really lousy. We had trained dredgers. I didn’t know my team like that at all.”

It led to Bosz becoming insecure. “I didn’t sleep well because of that. The reserves simply walked over the basic players. But maybe it had something to do with the storm. As a football player I would rather have rain than wind.”

“A perfect evening.”

In the end everything turned out fine and PSV won for the eleventh time in the Eredivisie. Bosz was also able to give players some rest in the run-up to the Champions League match against Lens. “It was nice that we could change players earlier. Jerdy Schouten had already indicated in advance that he had heavy legs. Then it is ideal that I could replace him at half time.”

Other contributing players were also able to leave early. “This is the ideal preparation for Wednesday,” Bosz concluded. Then PSV must beat Lens to maintain the prospect of wintering in the Champions League. In any case, the dress rehearsal was something to enjoy. “We got three points, six goals, kept a clean sheet and had no injuries. A perfect evening.”
