The emergency services were alerted last night around 9:15 p.m. Several people reportedly felt unwell and it was suspected that it was carbon monoxide poisoning.

There were nine people in the home, six adults and three children. One had to be rushed to hospital. The others escaped unscathed.

Flue gas discharge appears to be the cause of carbon monoxide leak

Tests by the fire brigade showed that it was indeed carbon monoxide. It came from the flue gas discharge of the central heating system, a spokesperson for the safety region said.

The boiler has been turned off and the house has been ventilated. The people have been accommodated elsewhere tonight. A technician will look at the broken central heating boiler today.
