After just over two years, the trading group Pepco Group NV is ceasing its business activities in Austria.
The group, which is active in Austria with 73 locations of the discounter of the same name, came to the conclusion after ongoing and in-depth performance reviews that this market did not meet expectations, the Pepco Group announced on Monday. The group, which also includes the discounters Poundland and Dealz, does not assume that Pepco will achieve the appropriate level of returns in Austria.
Pepco opened the first two branches in Austria in September 2021 in the Center 21 shopping centers in Vienna and Cine Nova in Wiener Neustadt. The first German store only followed in Berlin the following April.
However, the withdrawal from the Austrian market should not have any impact on the expansion in Western Europe, which will continue.
