The starting position is almost the same as last year: In the 2021/2022 season, VfB Stuttgart secured relegation in the Bundesliga with a home win against 1. FC Köln (2-1) on the 34th matchday at the very last minute . This year the same should happen against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. One thing, however, should definitely not happen this time: thousands of VfB fans rushing to celebrate.

In order to prevent similar images as last year, VfB Stuttgart has now made an urgent, almost dramatic appeal to its own supporters via its club media.

The club’s message is unmistakable: “No storming on Saturday!”

In order to prevent the barriers from being climbed over into the stadium interior, the Swabians explained the great risks of storming the pitch and used drastic words.

“Storming the field is associated with considerable danger, in the worst case people can die. Please stay in your seats after the final whistle,” wrote VfB on its club website.

VfB Stuttgart warns of “uncontrollable pressure and tight situations”

He warned of “uncontrollable pressure and tightness situations” in the lower tiers of the stadium in the moments of a square storm, of a great risk of falling when climbing over fences and boards, possibly blocked escape routes and the existing construction site on the entire main grandstand.

In addition to the health risks, the club also pointed out the financial consequences of storming the pitch by fans: “In addition to the expected penalty from the DFB, storming the pitch causes massive financial damage at VfB. We should also prevent this together.”

Almost 46,000 spectators are expected to attend the Bundesliga final against 1899 Hoffenheim next Saturday afternoon in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart.
