Pellegrino Matarazzo is apparently threatened with the end

Despite the public confessions of those responsible, coach Pellegrino Matarazzo apparently has to worry about his job at VfB Stuttgart.

Only three wins in the 2022 calendar year, not a single triple point win since the start of the 2022/2023 season: VfB Stuttgart is in a deep sporting crisis, and has been in principle for months – even if the much-acclaimed relegation was achieved in the final sprint of the past season.

But an upward trend is not in sight. In the meantime, the long undisputed coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has also been the focus of criticism.

As “Bild” reports, the job of the 44-year-old American is seriously at risk in the event of further defeats. Only wins could help Matarazzo, writes the tabloid.

Other media recently hit the same note: The “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” reported growing doubts about the head coach at VfB Stuttgart. The “SWR” predicted a “stormy autumn” for Matarazzo.

VfB Stuttgart against Union Berlin, VfL Bochum and BVB

The next games in the Bundesliga could decide Matarazzo’s future – and they have it all.

First, the Swabians meet Union Berlin next Sunday (7:30 p.m.).

The Keller duel against VfL Bochum is on the agenda for October 15, followed by the away game at Borussia Dortmund a week later.

VfB Stuttgart: Public support for Pellegrino Matarazzo

Externally, the VfB bosses are still behind Matarazzo, at least for the time being. This is “not part of the analysis,” confirmed sports director Sven Mislintat at the weekend after the 3-2 defeat in the crisis duel at VfL Wolfsburg.

“Our coach has been with us for almost three years now. I’m convinced that we’ll have more successful times again,” affirmed defender Pascal Stenzel.
