Last weekend, Las Vegas was all about Kiss. At the “Kiss Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas” At the Virgin Hotel, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer played a small concert without a masquerade. The day after, there was also a question and answer session at the extraordinary fan convention.

The topics were obvious: the upcoming Kiss biopic “Shout It Out Loud” and the already announced Avatar show. Unsurprisingly, they were also asked whether the band would be working on new songs. To the surprise of the supporters present, Paul Stanley became quite clear, but also immediately qualified something:

“There is definitely some music in the works. (…) But the problem is that so much of what we say out loud never leads to anything. As for new music: Yes, that looks damn more than possible. Probably. I can’t give any details though. But I only hint at something like that when there’s a project. And I hinted at something…”

New songs from Kiss should rock

The 73-year-old added that you are definitely getting older as an artist, but you can still write songs very well about topics such as freedom, self-determination and how you should enjoy life. One criterion for everything else: the songs have to rock!

Excited by the musicians’ short appearance, a fan naturally wanted to know whether there could be further Kiss concerts soon. “We’re really proud of what we did last night,” Stanley said. “We know what we’re capable of — and it’s been amazing. What are we going to do from this point? I have no idea.”

In addition to the still vague plans for the future, Paul Stanley also recalled his time with the late Ace Frehley. For him, the guitarist had a formative influence on the sound of Kiss with his spectacular solos. “Ace helped make us who we are today,” the singer explained.
