“A storm is coming,” announced Paul Pogba these days. However, the Frenchman did not announce a change – but rather other plans.
Paul Pogba has found a new job away from football. The 2018 world champion becomes a shareholder and ambassador at the Al Haboob camel racing stable in Saudi Arabia.
Accompanied by dramatic music and wearing an eye-catching outfit, Pogba signed the contract – silver chain, glitter earrings and jacket included. “A storm is coming,” says the Frenchman in the published video of the contract signing.
Al Haboob sees itself as the world’s first professional camel racing team and wants to create the basis for its own league. Pogba is quoted in a statement from the team: “I am incredibly excited to be working with Al Haboob. I have had many opportunities and offers throughout my career, but this one felt different. It spoke to me on a deeper level – culture, legacy, storytelling.”
Camel racing is particularly popular in the Gulf States. The animals are ridden by small robots that are remotely controlled from support vehicles. Pogba said: “I’ve always wanted to try new things and do things differently – whether on the pitch or in life.”
Al Haboob was founded in 2021 with the RedSea Camel Company, a group of breeders. In 2024, a documentary series about the team called “Camel Quest” appeared on Netflix.
After his doping ban, Pogba recently made his comeback for AS Monaco – it was his first appearance in more than two years.
