Patty Brard shows up at RTL just after her dinner with Peter van der Vorst. She appeared last night during Leonie ter Braak’s somewhat disappointing debut in RTL Tonight. “She’s too light for it.”

70-year-old Patty Brard, together with colleagues such as André van Duin (78), Catherine Keyl (79) and Johan Derksen (76), is one of the oldest active celebrities in the media. Will it soon be over for the television diva from Papua? Well, it doesn’t seem like that. In fact, after years of desk work at Shownieuws, she seems to be returning to RTL.

Patty with Leonie

Patty said in that program that she would have dinner last week with Peter van der Vorst, currently the television boss of RTL, and hinted that a signature might be signed somewhere. The day after that dinner she suddenly showed up last night RTL Tonightand during Leonie ter Braak’s debut at that talk show flop.

What was Patty doing there? Talk about her role in the TV event Scrooge Live. Of course she could also have done that at Shownieuws, but apparently her loyalty is shifting. There may be some interesting TV news in there, but Leonie left it aside. He came up with a completely uncritical slime interview.

Slime interview

You may wonder whether it would have been better to put Leonie at the Shownieuws desk, because she was deeply involved with Patty. Now she is used to that – she once even had an enema show on television – but it is of no use to the viewer. “It’s so admirable, Patty, because this year has just about been your busiest year,” she begins.

“You celebrated your 70th birthday very big at Ziggo Rome, but really over the top with the biggest artists. Everyone sang for you, it was sold out, you do so many things, but your resilience… That you are also starting a new career at the age of 70, what is the secret of that resilience?”

Positive thing

If you ask a cliché question, you will of course get a cliché answer. “I must honestly say that I have also had many low points in my life and I just appreciate every positive thing that happens. I actually want to give that to you too,” Patty says to studio guest Lale Gül.

She continues: “There is always a button that can turn negative into positive. You really have to do what you stand for and what you like and go for it! You have to remain optimistic. Focus on positivity. Do something for someone else and you will get it back.”

Lightweight

It is clear: RTL Tonight will not win the war with Leonie either. The reactions of RTL viewers X are predominantly negative. “What a lightweight that Leonie is, completely unsuitable for the job,” says one Mirjam.

One Yako: “Leonie is not yet Eva Jinek.”

Leentje especially feels sorry for the presenter. “Leonie should get something that really suits her, because she didn’t really take over HLF8, her own program Wat Een Dag! also felt like she was satisfied with it and now she also gets the failing RTL Tonight in her list. Sad.”
