Anyone who has little to do with the notoriously hyperactive image and story service Instagram, which begs for attention, may be persuaded to visit by Patti Smith.

The singer uses her account to take a sensitive yet intimate look at her life and what inspires her. After numerous recommendations for great albums and books, Smith has been using Instagram as a kind of tour diary for the past few months.

The resulting impressions are now being processed into a separate book: “A Book Of Days”. The volume will be published on November 15, initially in the English original by Penguin (HERE can be pre-ordered).

The book contains 365 photographs depicting a year in Smith’s life. You can see her visiting the graves of some of her literary heroes like Dylan Thomas and Sylvia Plath and playing with her children and cat.

After “Just Kids”, “M-Train” and “In the Year of the Monkey”, this is the artist’s fourth work that gives a deep insight into her life and work. After Patti Smith was seen with her band in Germany in the summer, further gigs in the USA are now on the agenda.
