Patrik Laine only managed to play five games before his injury. PDO

Patrick Laine is sidelined with an injury for the next 3-4 months. If Montreal can manage without the Finn, is Laine’s career with the Canadiens over?

Thinking about this Puck reporter for The Hockey News Adam Proteau in his article.

Proteau, who closely follows Montreal, praises the club’s GM by Kent Hughes made game moves with which he acquired by Noah Dobson and By Zach Bolduc company, but he considers Laine’s capture from Columbus a miss for one reason:

– Laine has shown again that he cannot stay healthy, Proteua writes.

He also points out that Laine’s goals have been declining for a long time.

– But the bigger problem is that he doesn’t stay healthy. That likely means Laine’s career in Montreal is over.

After the 2020–21 season, Laine has never played more than 56 games. In addition to physical injuries, the man has suffered from mental health problems.

At the moment, there is hardly a club boss in the NHL who believes that Laine can play 82 games in a season.

– This will significantly reduce his salary next summer, when he becomes a free agent, Proteua sees.

Laine has earned an average of 8.7 million bucks per season with his current deal.
