Patrick Swayze: Widow reveals his last wish
On September 14, 2009, “Dirty Dancing” star Patrick Swayze died of complications from pancreatic cancer. His wife Lisa Niemi was by his side until his death. The couple met when they were teenagers; Niemi was only 15 and Swayze was 19. After the shock diagnosis, Swayze only had 20 months to live. Now she tells us what he would have liked to do with her one last time: “When we were walking on our ranch in New Mexico, he looked at me and said that he would love to go camping with me again.”
Patrick Swayze: Widow reveals his last wish. He said: “I want to live”
In the podcast “Amy and TJ”, the widow remembers the special moment between the two: “We always called ourselves optimistic realists because we knew exactly how it would turn out, but we believed that he would make it because miracles still happen. But the truth was: we were living in this nightmare 24/7.” Swayze is said to have been a nature-loving, animal-loving person. That’s why it was his last wish to go camping with her again. In the last few months, the couple spent a lot of time outdoors, for example on their shared ranch in New Mexico. There, Niemi experienced an emotional moment with him: “He looked at me with tears in his eyes and said: ‘I want to live,'” the 67-year-old says in the podcast.
Grief despite a new marriage
Lisa Niemi has been in a happy relationship for 10 years. She married author and businessman Albert DePrisco. However, she still thinks about the late Swayze often: “I don’t think there’s anything that I don’t miss about him,” she told Entertainment Tonight magazine. It is mainly “the little things” that she misses. Especially his laugh and his voice, Niemi explained. “We had a great time and there’s so much I’m grateful for,” she added.
