“Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew tested positive for coronavirus today, Friday, December 24, 2021 as part of regular diagnostic tests conducted in Fanari. His Holiness, who is fully vaccinated, is currently showing mild symptoms and his general condition is assessed positively, ”the message says.

In October, during a visit to the United States, Patriarch Bartholomew was hospitalized. Before the liturgy in St. Sophia Cathedral, the patriarch felt unwell “because of the long flight and the busy schedule of events.” He was taken to George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC.

It is noted that immediately after receiving the results, the patriarch went to the Fanari central hospital for further examinations.
