The Neo -Romane Zoutekerk was built in the 1920s. The diocese actually wanted a large church at that time, but the company (the project development company of the Lippens family) wanted to keep the harmony of the Zoute. A building was added in 1929, especially because there was a capacity problem in the summer months. The church is painted white, in accordance with the style of the surrounding villas.
The church is still owned by order. But that also entails costs. Father Anton Milh: “We are a begging order, so we live from donations. The buildings are 100 years old and require a lot of maintenance. This is how we want to repaint the church, something that should ideally happen every ten years at the sea. It was already 25 years ago, so we started a fundraising. It is about 2,700 m² to paint again and one square meter.” ””
