Pasta, pizza and tiramisu now world heritage: UNESCO crowns Italian cuisine

Italian cuisine has been classified by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage that must be protected. Italy presented its culinary tradition because it is important for the Italian culture, way of life and also the handling of ingredients. This was recently painfully clear during a riot surrounding jars of carbonara sauce with an Italian flag in a Brussels supermarket. During a UNESCO meeting in India, it appeared that there was agreement about the protection of real Italian cuisine.
