Running, jogging and walking: anyone who likes to do this in Zoetermeer should pay attention. Because if you like to put on your running or walking shoes in a group, you can register for free for a Zoetermeerse Parkrun.

The initiative came from the United Kingdom and is held in various places in the Netherlands. You can also participate in this weekly running event every Saturday in Zoetermeer, organized by Bodyrock sports club. It is not about speed, but about fun, conviviality and the ease of being active together. The first Parkrun in Zoetermeer is on Saturday, October 25.

Parkrun in Zoetermeer

The route is a 5 kilometer circuit of Balijbos. Do you want to run? Then you can go here to register. You will receive a personal barcode with which your time can be tracked. The group meets every Saturday morning at 9:00 am at the Speelbos near Kurkhout 100. Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you jog, run, help as a volunteer or cheer on the runners from the side. You can find the complete route on the website.

A drink afterwards

If you have worked up an appetite from running or walking, you can go to Gemiva. This is the catering facility at city farm De Balijhoeve. The participants of the Parkrun drink coffee with each other every week afterwards.

‘Positive, hospitable and inclusive’

According to the initiators, Parkrun is ‘positive, hospitable and inclusive’. “There is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to participate.” Ideal for people who are just starting to run or want to participate for fun.
