Paris Saint-Germain celebrates their tenth championship title

Paris (AP) – Thanks to superstar Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain has won the French soccer championship for the tenth time since 1986. The Argentinian’s goal was enough for the team coached by Mauricio Pochettino in the Prinzenpark to make it 1-1 (0-0) against RC Lens.

PSG drew level with AS St. Etienne (ten championship titles) in history. Messi scored the decisive goal in the 68th minute on the 34th of 38 matchdays in the Parisians’ premature championship in Ligue 1. With 78 points now, PSG can no longer be intercepted by Olympique Marseille (62), even if the pursuer has five wins. Lens had to play a man down for more than half an hour after Kevin Danso (57th) was sent off. Corentin Jean equalized for the guests (88th).

It was the first draw after four wins for the capital club, which had to play without midfielder Julian Draxler (rehab after knee surgery). Both in the Champions League and in the national cup competition, PSG had already failed in the round of 16.
