Like Fortuna Düsseldorf, Paris FC is starting a project for free entry for fans. The capital city club from the second French league is going one step further: from next Saturday, spectators will be able to come to the stadium free of charge for all games of the men’s and first women’s teams until the end of the season.
“The club, which has been developing this project for several months, wants the sporting spectacle offered on the pitch to be made accessible to everyone, whether families or groups of friends, whether football fans or not, regardless of age or social class,” said a club statement.
The Parisians also referred to the Düsseldorf model, but emphasized that it was limited to a few games and the men’s team. The Rhinelanders played the first free game of the “Fortuna for All” project on October 21st. In contrast to the Paris club, which has an average attendance of only around 2,800 in the current season with a capacity of 20,000 seats, Düsseldorf would have to financially compensate for an average of more than 30,000 fans in every game. In total, almost 55,000 people can fit into the Düsseldorf arena. A comparison is therefore difficult.

Fortuna is planning two more free games this season. The second division team is to receive around 40 million euros over five years in order to play three home games per season in which the audience is granted free entry. This sponsorship model is to be gradually expanded in order to be able to offer more free spins per season in the future.
