Paris attacks resumed today | Abroad

The trial of the November 13, 2015 attacks in Paris has resumed today before the special court of assize in the French capital. On February 15, the assize trial was suspended due to two new coronavirus infections among the accused.

The trial over the Paris and Saint-Denis attacks, which killed 130 people, started on September 8. Corona infections have stopped it several times. In early January, there was a suspension due to the corona infection of Salah Abdeslam, the main accused and sole survivor of the commando that is responsible for the attacks.

The trial resumed on January 11, only to be suspended again on January 18 due to a positive test by El Haddad Asufi. The debates then resumed on January 25, until two other accused, the Belgian Moroccan Mohamed Amri and the Algerian Adel Haddadi, tested positive on Tuesday, February 15. The trial was then adjourned until February 22 at the earliest.

The process has resumed today. The court is questioning a Belgian investigator about the search for where the jihadist commandos were hiding in August and September 2015. Three other Belgian police officers are said to testify this week via video conference from Brussels.

The end of the trial, initially planned for the end of May, is now expected at the end of June.
