Parents themselves organize open days for PVO school with an uncertain future

A group of fanatical parents organized the open day today for the Ida Gerhardt Academy, a PVO school in Hoorn. Because the school has an uncertain future, the school itself no longer organized open days. “The children are having a great time here,” says a parent.

The future of the school is uncertain due to a negative assessment of a research report and the limited number of new students. The fact that few new children come to the school is mainly due to the parents’ lack of active recruitment. That’s why they joined forces and organized an open day themselves. “I think it is a nice school, it is a small but a pleasant school,” says a possible future student. “Then you have more time for sports and friends.”

In any case, the parents are sure of their case. “Even if we have to chain ourselves to the door, this school will not close,” a parent always says.
