October 8 – 8.10pm – MILAN

A busy day for Paola Egonu. After being received at the Quirinale by Mattarella with the two national volleyball world champions, the Italian also spoke at Porta a Porta, where she addressed a topic particularly dear to her: racism. “I believe that in recent years there have been important steps forward in the fight against this scourge – said Egonu in the preview of the programme, which will be broadcast tonight from 11.45pm on Rai 1 -, also driven by our successes, in volleyball, such as at the European basketball championship this summer or even at the recent World Athletics Championships. Sport teaches us that together, with our differences, we can create a better world”.

“NOT JUST VOLLEYBALL”

Egonu then referred to his monologue in Sanremo in 2023, in which he addressed the topic of diversity, declaring all his love for Italy and the blue shirt: “I believe that compared to then something has changed for the better. There is still a lot to do, but the direction is the right one”. Then on her commitments, on and off the court: “Volleyball remains the focus of my life, but I’m pleased that my teammates and I are also able to convey values and emotions that we experience not only as athletes, but also as people.”
