Is this the straw that breaks the camel’s back? Good Times Bad Times has been overtaken for the first time by Allies, and according to Tina Nijkamp that is a big deal. “This is historic.”
It could be that 2026 will be the year in which Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden disappears from the air and moves exclusively to Videoland. For the first time in 35 years, the channel did not rule out this scenario last fall and that is significant. The viewing figures have been disappointing for quite some time and this may now be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Panic at GTST
TV authority Tina Nijkamp points to yesterday’s viewing figures. “It is a historic viewing figure morning because for the first time, Allies has defeated GTST. Allies 636 thousand and GTST 593 thousand viewers.”
She continues on her analysis channel: “That’s quite a thing. Phew. Really HISTORIC, also in the 30-year existence of SBS 6 to beat RTL 4 at 8 p.m. Viewership cake for Allies that calls itself the soap with real people. Panic at GTST, I think.”
Prime time
The big question is: what will RTL 4 do at 8 p.m. if GTST disappears there? In the summer, the Ruben Nicolai quiz I Know Everything About it is broadcast at that time and that scores better than the soap opera, but can that also work all year round?
TV critic Victor Vlam previously suggested simply moving prime time forward. The late evening starts at 9:30 PM. “Then you can start Lubach at that time and the talk show at 10 p.m.”
