The Rosanero club shared its vision of the stadium of the future with the city, fans and all stakeholders

A vision that is gradually taking shape while waiting for it to transform into a reality that promises to be truly innovative. The new Barbera stadium already has an ideal structure and lives in the necessary documentation presented by Palermo to the Sicilian Region as part of the administrative process relating to the Renzo Barbera redevelopment project. A confirmation of the commitment, not only financial, announced while waiting to see the contributions that the State and the Region have also anticipated wanting to give alongside the club and the Municipality. A strategic synergy between the Rosanero club and the entities involved for the success of the final result that is important to everyone. While waiting for the decision-making conference to open and for the bodies and individuals in charge to express their assessments, the club, as stated in a note, has shared with the city, the fans and all stakeholders its vision of the Barbera of the future, developed with the Populous architecture studio: not simply a renovated sports facility, but a new urban infrastructure, sustainable, modern and open. A place capable of respecting the history and identity of its context and, at the same time, accompanying Palermo towards an increasingly international dimension. There are five key principles of Barbera’s new vision: integration with the city and urban regeneration of the neighborhood; fan at the center of the experience, with total coverage, stands closer to the pitch and greater accessibility; respect for the history of the place and the landscape context, from the Favorita to Monte Pellegrino; multifunctional vocation, with the capacity to host Euro 2032, UEFA competitions, concerts and events of international appeal; environmental sustainability, with photovoltaic panels, rainwater recovery and light mobility. Next to the stadium, there is also space for a completely new structure, which will be the “home” of Palermo: a modern headquarters, with museum, offices, reception and functions dedicated to fans, guests and premium players.
