Owning a luxury property in Cologne, Oliver Pocher surprisingly feels more like moving out rather than enjoying its amenities. The seemingly endless repairs have led the comedian to consider a significant downsizing.
Life in a Glamorous Villa
Oliver Pocher, a well-known comedian, finds himself living in a property that most of his fans can only dream of. His spacious villa in Cologne boasts luxurious features including a swimming pool, a tennis court, an elevator, and even a private cinema. Recently, his good friend and “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” winner, Pietro Lombardi, praised the property in their podcast “Patchwork Boys,” estimating its worth at around eight million euros.
The Dilemma of Maintenance
However, rather than enjoying these amenities, Pocher expresses his frustrations. According to him, the only good aspect of the house is its appreciating property value. In the latest episode of their podcast, he laments the constant need for maintenance. He relays a long list of issues, including broken sockets, tiles that are falling off walls, malfunctioning appliances like freezers and coffee machines, and a lawnmower that won’t start. Pocher humorously notes how things constantly break or how his children often bring him various broken items.
A Desire for Simplicity
His frustrations peaked recently when, while on the phone, the blinds descended inexplicably. A service technician was needed for repairs that took days to complete. Pocher voiced his annoyance, stating, “It’s always something, and it drives me crazy.” He indicates that he is now “really close to being like Udo Lindenberg. I just want to go to a hotel. Room service, in and out, thank you very much.” Udo Lindenberg, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, has lived in the Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg for decades.
Plans for Downscaling
Oliver Pocher admits that once his children are older, he plans to “massively downsize.” Lombardi estimates that his friend will only need about 200 square meters in a new living space. Pocher, however, believes that he only requires “a handful of clothes” and could comfortably live in just 80 square meters, joking that this size would basically be equivalent to his current cinema.
Count the Kids
While Pocher dreams of simplifying his living situation, he must first endure the luxuries he currently has, as his five children are still very much a part of his life. His oldest daughter from his marriage to Alessandra Meyer-Wölden, who also has 14-year-old twin sons with him, was born in 2010 and is still just 16 years old. Pocher’s youngest son, born in 2020 from his relationship with Amira Aly, and he also has another son with her. Currently, Aly is pregnant with her new partner, presenter Christian Düren. Until his children mature, Oliver Pocher will have to manage both the luxuries and challenges of his vast home.
