Paintings on bridges commemorate 2013 pile-up: ‘130 vehicles involved’

More than 130 cars were involved in the accident and two people were killed. The collision extended over more than three kilometers on the A19 in the direction of Kortrijk and in the direction of Ypres.

The accident is commemorated after ten years with a mural. If the weather permits, the Bruges Jamz Jameson, specialized in murals, will start the work in the week of September 11. The murals will span two bridges over the A19. This concerns the bridge over Wervikstraat and the bridge at Magerheidstraat. While the murals are being installed, one lane will always remain open to car traffic on the A19 near the works.

The AWV provides the necessary signaling and crash absorbers so that the works can take place safely for both car drivers and the artist. The works will take a week at most.
