Many a resident of Veenhuizen would not have escaped it: various historic buildings were tackled. The New Rentmeester Foundation is busy repairing poorly maintained buildings. It is striking that the colors of the frames also change.
The vast majority of the 85 buildings owned by the foundation has a special status. “But they need some love, you can mainly see that in the painting,” says Sanne Beishuizen, architect of the De Nieuwe Rentmeester Foundation.
“We get a lot of responses to maintenance work from the village. Especially the colors that lives in the village. One thinks it is beautiful and the other wonders what we are doing,” laughs Beishuizen.
Research by the municipality of Noordenveld shows that white and (almost) black are not the original colors. “The original colors are larch and blond, so we’re putting it on it now.”
