Known as Iaros, the photographer was a peculiar, long-suffering character, whose biography is barely known. He came from the then and now punished Ukraine when he was very young, he attended the suicide of his father, he was very poor and ended up locked up in various psychiatric hospitals. What remains of his work, a witness to the bohemian scene in emblematic bars such as the Barbaro (photo) and corners of the city with the passing of trams (photo), was kept by Romulo Macció. John Joseph Sebreli he met him and wrote about him years ago; His text “Iaros, the metaphysical photographer” participates, among others, in the book “The Broken Gaze” that Vasari presents at the fair on 9/23. “He always carried his camera around his neck and wandered around the city all day; he captured hidden corners and unusual situations, he rescued the atmosphere of certain streets and houses and old cafes. Photography was not a trade for him – he rarely earned anything – but his way of life”.

Photo exhibitions multiply throughout the city, like the two by the remarkable Sameer Makarius: “The Generous Image” at the Cabildo Museum and “Where are we going, Buenos Aires? Tribute to the City in the historic El Federal bar. The Télam agency presents unpublished photographs of the Malvinas war at the CCK. 40 years after the war and after the opening of the archive “it makes available the documentary record obtained by the correspondents sent to the islands: Eduardo Farré, Eduardo Navone and Román Von Eckstein”.
