Thousands of Dutch people on the Eastern Front were taken prisoner of war by the Russians after the Second World War and ended up in prison camps. They thought they would go home ‘soon’, but were stuck in appalling conditions for years without contact with family. Their testimonies in the archives of the Dutch Red Cross have been public since January 1.
