Nintendo is going to increase the price of the Switch 2. In Europe, the game console will become approximately 30 euros more expensive, bringing the price to 500 euros. At the same time, the Japanese game company expects to sell fewer Switch 2 consoles this year than last year, when the device was launched.

Like many other electronics manufacturers, Nintendo is struggling with sharply increased chip costs due to high demand from AI companies.

Financial year

In the past fiscal year, which ran until the end of March, Nintendo sold almost 20 million copies of its Switch 2. That will drop to about 16.5 million this fiscal year, the company expects.

Sales of games are expected to increase. A new one will be coming this summer StarFoxgame out. There are also rumors about a new version of the classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and can also announce a new one Mariogame won’t be long in coming.

Turnover doubled

Last year, Nintendo managed to almost double its turnover to more than 2.3 trillion yen, equivalent to 12.5 billion euros. Profit rose 52 percent to 424 billion yen.

Nintendo fears that this turnover and profit growth will not continue this financial year. The company expects turnover to drop by more than 11 percent and profit to be more than a quarter lower. More expensive memory chips cost the company an additional 100 billion yen (542 million euros).
