Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Edson Álvarez has been talked about for some time at both Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern as a potential reinforcement for the coming season. Recently it was speculated that BVB had an advantage. However, the now uncovered pain threshold of the Dutch should ensure that no hasty decision is made.
In order to be in the lead in the supposed transfer tug-of-war over Edson Álvarez, a supposedly interested party would supposedly have to dig deep into his pocket. According to “Sport1”, the management of Ajax Amsterdam has agreed not to let the 25-year-old Mexican go under an offer of 35 million euros.
This bold approach is made possible, among other things, by a contract that does not expire in Amsterdam until the summer of 2025. If you believe the media, however, the Ajax bosses have already scaled back their demands quite a bit: According to “ESPN”, an offer from Chelsea for 63 million euros was coldly rejected last summer.
FC Bayern in particular, who will also keep their eyes open for a new – and certainly very expensive – superstar for the center of the attack in the summer, should also be too much money for a new man for the midfield headquarters. Especially since the squad already gives prominent alternatives.
Álvarez no Bellingham replacement for BVB?
The situation is different at BVB, who will most likely collect a sum of more than 100 million euros for Jude Bellingham after the season and need a replacement for the young Englishman.
