Due to the nomination of Assan Ouédraogo (19) for the German senior national team, U21 coach Antonio Di Salvo has called Paderborn’s Mika Baur (21) into his squad as a replacement. As the DFB announced, the midfielder will join the team on Monday evening. He’s there for the first time. Germany will play in the European Championship qualifiers against Malta (November 14th, 6 p.m.) and in Georgia (November 18th, 6 p.m.).

Baur has been under contract with East Westphalia since the summer of 2024. He spent the second half of last season with SG Dynamo Dresden in the 3rd league, and in the current season he is in Paderborn’s midfield. In 13 appearances he has two goals and three assists. During the market value update of the 2nd league in October, the Salem native went up again after four devaluations in a row – from 900,000 to 1.2 million euros. This means he has the lowest rating in the current DFB U21 squad.

After the surprising defeat against Greece (2:3) in October, the U21s need two wins in order not to fall further behind in the race for a ticket to the 2027 European Championships in Albania and Serbia. The DFB juniors are second in Group 6 after three games.
