Bundesliga club Austria Klagenfurt separated from coach Peter Pacult on Sunday. The Carinthians had received a 0: 6 defeat the evening before at the guest appearance at the LASK and are now only half a point ahead of the end of the table.
Pacult took over Klagenfurt as a second division in January 2021 and led directly to the Bundesliga in his first half of the year. In this, Austria succeeded in developing into a top team, three times in a row the Klagenfurter made the qualification for the master group. After a squad break in summer, however, this season failed, but for the first time the team is now in the relegation battle. It is unclear whether Klagenfurt can remain in professional football, regardless of the league affiliation: the association was refused both license and approval in the first instance.
With his almost four and a half years, Pacult was in the office of the Bundesliga coaching coaches. His successor was already presented on Sunday: German Carsten Jancer is to save the Carinthian from the sporting descent. The 50-year-old was most recently involved in regional league DSV Leoben, which he had left after the club’s bankruptcy in January. He is closely related to Helmut Kaltenegger and his company TGI Gold, which has been the main sponsor on Lake Wörthersee in the past few days. Together with Kaltenegger, Jancer already worked for the Donawitzers. The 33-fold national player is supported by Klagenfurt’s reserve coach Rolf Landerl.
