His coach Steve Kerr has clearly reprimanded basketball professional Draymond Green for his headlock action.
“He has to find a way not to cross the line. I’m not talking about technical fouls or an ejection. I’m talking about acts of physical violence. That’s inexcusable,” said the Golden State Warriors coach on Thursday evening (local time). The Warriors lost their game 109:128 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The 33-year-old Green put Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves in a headlock with great intensity on Tuesday and was sent off for it. The North American professional league NBA suspended him for five games. “He went too far. That was wrong, he knows it. The five-game suspension is deserved,” said Kerr.
In the Warriors’ 101-104 loss on Tuesday night, Green, Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels were thrown off the court before the first basket. McDaniels’ tug on Thompson’s jersey started the scuffle between the two teams after just 103 seconds and with the score at 0-0.
Green has been sent off for the 19th time in his career – more than twice as often as any other active NBA professional. “He must not cross this line,” repeated coach Kerr, who promised further support from the club for the hothead.
