Overtoom back to basics at Telstar: “Personally tasty, but it is of little use to you”

The last time Tom Overtoom started at Telstar in the starting lineup was Friday, August 12 against PEC Zwolle (0-5). After six reserve innings, the midfielder was allowed to participate again tonight against Jong FC Utrecht from the first whistle.

He paid back the confidence of trainer Mike Snoei with two assists. Only they were not enough for the win, because Telstar was stuck at a 2-2 draw. “Personally it’s nice, but in the end it doesn’t do you much good. You just have to win these matches,” said Overtoom.

According to Snoei, Anwar Bensabouh is preferred to Overtoom in midfield. When he got injured, the trainer opted for Mihkel Ainsalu, but the Let was passed against Jong FC Utrecht in favor of Overtoom.

The fact that Telstar did not win was again due to the fact that the Velsenaren did not finish the opportunities that were created. “We had two or three very big chances at 3-1. If you don’t finish it, you will bring it on yourself,” said Snoei.
