The German national ice hockey player John-Jason Peterka suffered a setback in the NHL with Utah Mammoth.

After the franchise had previously stopped a series of defeats, the German outside attacker’s team had to admit defeat to the New York Islanders 2-3 after overtime in front of their own crowd on Saturday night.

The 23-year-old Peterka scored one goal in regular time before New York scored the decisive goal in overtime after their equalizer.

The hosts turned around a 0-1 deficit in the first third thanks to Peterka (14th) and Dylan Guenther (19th). For Peterka it was the second goal in the second game in a row. The guests equalized in the final third, only to strike again a little later in extra time – Matthew Schaefer’s winning goal came after 2:06 minutes of overtime.

Lukas Reichel also suffered a late blow with the Vancouver Canucks. In the away game at the Carolina Hurricanes, the 23-year-old’s team lost 3-4 in overtime after leading by one goal in the third period. The German international failed to score and suffered the Canadians’ third defeat in a row.
