Gelsenkirchen (dpa) – FC Schalke 04 has committed winger Thomas Ouwejan.
The 25-year-old has been given a contract with the newly promoted Bundesliga club until the end of the 2023/24 season, as the Revierclub announced. Ouwejan moved to Gelsenkirchen on loan from AZ Alkmaar last summer. The Dutchman has made 29 competitive appearances for Schalke and scored three goals.
“Thomas has impressively demonstrated this season why we really wanted to bring him over last summer,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “He’s one of the best wingers in the second division, and he’s a big threat in standard situations.”
